Description
The 4-Wire Flame Sensor Module is an infrared-based fire detection board designed for flame sensing, fire alarm prototypes, and robotics projects. It uses a YG1006 NPN phototransistor coated with black epoxy that makes it sensitive to infrared radiation in the 760nm to 1100nm wavelength range, which is characteristic of flame emissions . The module includes an onboard LM393 comparator and a potentiometer for adjustable sensitivity, allowing users to set the threshold at which a flame is detected .
The module provides two simultaneous outputs: a digital output (DO) that goes LOW when infrared intensity exceeds the adjustable threshold, and an analog output (AO) that provides a voltage proportional to the infrared intensity for more nuanced measurements . The detection angle is approximately 60 degrees, and the module can detect a lighter flame at distances up to 80cm, with larger flames detectable at greater distances .
