Description
The GP2Y0A51SK0F is the shortest-range analog infrared distance sensor in the Sharp lineup, designed for precise close-proximity detection from 2cm to 15cm. It combines a position-sensitive detector (PSD), an infrared emitting LED, and a signal processing circuit into a single compact unit, using optical triangulation to measure distance to a reflective object . The sensor outputs an analog voltage that varies inversely with distance—higher voltage for closer objects—and connects directly to any microcontroller ADC for straightforward integration into robotics, automation, and interactive projects.
The shorter range of this model provides higher resolution at close distances compared to longer-range Sharp sensors, making it particularly well-suited for detecting very close objects in applications such as cleaning robots, personal robots, and touchless sanitary equipment . The sensor is lead-free and RoHS-compliant. Note that the GP2Y0A51SK0F uses a different connector and mounting hole layout than other Sharp analog sensors, so it is not compatible with standard Sharp sensor brackets .
