Description
The ACS712 5A Current Sensor Module is built around the Allegro ACS712ELCTR-05B Hall-effect current sensor IC, providing isolated, bidirectional AC/DC current measurement up to ±5A. Unlike shunt-based solutions, the ACS712 uses Hall-effect sensing to measure current without direct electrical contact between the current path and the sensor electronics, offering galvanic isolation and minimal power loss (internal conductor resistance of only 1.2 mΩ) . The module outputs an analog voltage proportional to the measured current, centered at VCC/2 (typically 2.5V) when no current flows, with a sensitivity of 185 mV/A . The board includes screw terminals for the current-carrying circuit and a 3-pin header for VCC, GND, and analog output, making it directly compatible with Arduino, ESP32, and other microcontroller platforms. It is suitable for individual makers building power monitors or overcurrent protection circuits, as well as business purchasers seeking a cost-effective, isolated current sensing solution for equipment diagnostics, battery chargers, and switching power supplies.
