The 3-Wire Flame Sensor Module is an infrared-based fire detection board designed for flame sensing, fire alarm prototypes, and robotics projects. It uses a YG1006 NPN phototransistor coated with black epoxy that makes it sensitive to infrared radiation in the 760nm to 1100nm wavelength range, which is characteristic of flame emissions . This 3-wire version provides only a digital output (DO)—it lacks the analog output (AO) found on the 4-wire variant. The digital output goes LOW when infrared intensity exceeds the adjustable threshold, making it straightforward to connect to any digital GPIO for flame/no-flame detection. Important limitation: This module responds to any strong infrared source, including sunlight and incandescent lamps, and is not a life-safety certified fire detection device. It is intended for educational, hobbyist, and prototype applications only.
