Description

The MD1101 is a solid-polymer capacitive humidity sensor designed as a fully interchangeable replacement for the HS1101. Based on a parallel-plate capacitor principle, the sensor‘s capacitance changes proportionally with relative humidity as water molecules affect the dielectric constant of the sensing material . This makes it a direct drop-in solution for existing HS1101 designs without requiring recalibration across the full measurement range.

The sensor is manufactured using thin-film microelectronic processes with a proprietary solid polymer sensing material. Its base and substrate use corrosion-resistant, high-temperature metal materials, and the element surface is coated with a patented nano-protection layer. This construction provides high sensitivity, fast response, and strong resistance to dust and contamination .

The MD1101 is available in two variants: the standard MD1101 for operating temperatures of -40°C to +100°C, and the MD1101LF for high-temperature applications up to +140°C (with a black, high-temperature-resistant housing) . The standard variant is suitable for most general-purpose humidity measurement applications.

Important Note: The MD1101 is a capacitive sensor element, not a complete digital module. It requires an external conditioning circuit (such as a 555 timer oscillator or a capacitance-to-digital converter) to produce a usable output signal . The sensor is not waterproof in the sense of full submersion, though its nano-coating provides resistance to dust and condensation. For new designs, verify compatibility with your existing HS1101 circuitry before deployment.
