Description
The 5-Channel Flame Sensor Module is a multi-directional infrared detection board designed for fire-fighting robots, flame-seeking systems, and wide-area fire detection prototypes. Unlike single-sensor modules that cover only a narrow field of view, this board arranges five independent infrared flame sensors in an arc, providing a detection range of greater than 120 degrees—making it far more effective for determining the direction of a fire source in robotics applications . Each channel has its own IR-sensitive photodiode tuned to the 760nm–1100nm wavelength range, which corresponds to the infrared emissions characteristic of flames.
The module provides both analog and digital outputs for each of the five channels. The analog outputs (A1–A5) provide voltage signals proportional to IR intensity, enabling precise flame localization and intensity measurement. The digital outputs (D1–D5) provide simple HIGH/LOW signals for each channel, with onboard potentiometers allowing independent sensitivity adjustment per channel . Five LED indicators (one per channel) simplify debugging and visual feedback during operation. The board operates from 3.3V to 9V, making it compatible with both 3.3V and 5V microcontroller systems including Arduino and ESP32 .
Important limitation: Like all low-cost IR flame sensors, this module responds to any strong infrared source, including sunlight and incandescent lighting. It is intended for educational, hobbyist, and prototype applications and is not a life-safety certified fire detection device.
